The Speckled People
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins Publishers (03 February, 2003)
Author: Hugo Hamilton
Average review score:

Nationalism and Nazism
Memories of an unhappy Irish childhood marred by an eccentric and often ludicrous father who, although the son of a British sailor and (apparently) not a native Gaelic speaker, tried in abusive ways to stop his children speaking English. His mother was German, from an anti-Nazi Catholic family. Some of the father's vitipurative nationalist writings were anti-semitic.
It's beautifully written, very moving, and often funny. Some large political questions arise. Is there a similarity between the impulses that gave rise to Nazism and the romantic patriotism of small countries? Is the insistence on separate national identity linked to the need for personal self-esteem? How desirable is the preservation of dying languages? One fault is that Hamilton lets the political questions intrude too much. There is a long and vivid description of the Hitler assassination plot. The consciousness of Second World War enmities seems exaggerated for a child born in Southern Ireland in 1953. A closer focus on the facts would still have allowed us to ponder the larger questions.

Stage Manager's Handbook
Published in Paperback by Drama Publishers (December, 1972)
Authors: Bert Gruver and Frank Hamilton
Average review score:

A wonderful book for aspiring stage managers
I hope to be a Technical Theatre major when I get into college (I am a senior in high school at the moment), and I found a copy of this book at my county library. I read it over and over! I finally bought a copy of my own, which I use as a 'bible' of sorts. When I do stage management for some of my school's productions I always tote this book around as a reference tool. I recommend this book highly; it gives great insight into all aspects of the stage manager's duties. It is also a good read!

Extraordinary information for our times
'The Standing Stones Speak' is one of the most impressive channelling books I have come across. A most informative,
instructive and inspiring message from the Archangels, for our spiritual and physical wellbeing and life in these challenging
times. It is presented in a simple, straightforward, yet gentle
and loving manner. I loved it! Highly recommended.

Story of the Orchestra : Listen While You Learn About the Instruments, the Music and the Composers Who Wrote the Music!
Published in Hardcover by Black Dog & Leventhal Pub (02 October, 2000)
Authors: Meredith Hamilton and Robert T. Levine
Average review score:

Lots of good information and a good book
The Story of the Orchestra is an excellent book for. Adults would probably know most of the information covered in the book, but still a good read. Covers famous composers and highlights of their lives, orchestra history, instruments used in orchestras and bands. All information is true, and is a good source if you are doing any reports on instruments. Context is good and fits childrens' appetites- the Viola is the "violin's big brother." Good book. I highly recommend it.

Authors: Harriet Elizabeth Hamilton and Connie Bowen
Average review score:

For Kids of All Ages
As a grown up reader, I must say that this book is truly enchanting. I enjoyed the reading, and the artwork was fantastic. Children of all ages will enjoy this work. The lessons on friendship taught by the author are exactly what children today need, and adults would not be hurt by the refresher course. Yes, it is a children's story, but aren't we all children at heart anyway?

Tales of the Forgotten God Book Set
Published in Paperback by Intervarsity Press (October, 1994)
Authors: Dan Hamilton and Jack Stockman
Average review score:

A trilogy of fantasy, set in medieval times
I liked this trilogy because it showed me what a relationship with Jesus Christ is all about. It's strong suit is showing the character of a king who comes and walks among the people that he helps. The reader gets to see the characters fears, and their dreams, and their growth as they put their trust in the one who knows them better than they know themselves. I would place it in the catagory with C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia.

Tentmakers speak : practical advice from over 400 tentmakers
Published in Unknown Binding by TMQ Research ()
Author: Don Hamilton
Average review score:

The only source of field-tested commentary about tentmaking!
I did not give this book 5 stars because it is a literary masterpiece. By design it is something different, but it is nonetheless a rare find indeed! Nothing else quite like it exists, at least not done with the level of detail and care given by Hamilton to the underlying survey processes. This book reports and summarizes the experiences, opinions, lessons learned and attitudes formed by over 400 individuals. Each one of these people has lived in a different culture with the intent of getting to know people from that culture. This happens most naturally within the normal living of daily life in the marketplace, schools and hospitals - wherever the skills and experiences of these professionals presented natural opportunities for them to be of service to members of the host culture. As they rubbed shoulders with the people with whom they worked each day, they sought to bear testimony to their Christian faith, to communicate the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Are you pondering the possibility of living in a different culture as a natural witness by word and daily life? Do you wonder how you could share your faith authentically in a foreign culture where you are the outsider? Then read and benefit from those who have gone before you! This book is a goldmine of primary data on the psychological, theological, logistical and idiosyncratic realities of trying to authentically communicate the gospel cross-culturally as a layperson. If you are into that, you should buy this book. You will be glad that you did!

Terminators
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Fawcett Books (February, 1977)
Author: Donald Hamilton
Average review score:

Matt Helm is a lethal weapon for his bosses old friend
Matt goes to Norway to help an old friend of Mac's. It is another of those missions where Matt does not "need to know" the reasons. His partner is murdered and Matt comes head-on against an old fellow agent. Plenty of action in this book as Donald Hamilton spins another web of mystery and intrique. Great reading.
